Portland’s Adrianna Novara Signs with Lansing Community College Softball

December 1, 2018

On Thursday afternoon, Portland High School Senior Adrianna Novara signed to play softball next year for the Lansing Community College Stars.

Novara said, “I decided to play softball at LCC after I attended the Senior Showcase in the fall. I got to meet all of the coaches and some of the current players and I really enjoyed the whole atmosphere. After that, I went to visit the campus and met with Coach Kibby. He really made me feel welcomed and I really enjoyed the campus. The coaches and team were very welcoming and I am so excited to play there next year!”

Novara intends to study business/sports management.

PHS Coach Jack Anderson said, “I am very proud and excited that Dree is going to have the opportunity to play at the next level. Her hard work, dedication and determination has paid off. Lansing Community College is very lucky to have such a quality person joining their team. The Portland Softball program is extremely proud of her accomplishment and wish her the very best.”

In an email response to The Beacon, parents John and Brandee Novara said, “We are very proud of Adrianna.  She has put a lot of time and energy into softball, and her pitching.  We are also very proud of how focused and disciplined that she has been, throughout her high school career, both in the classroom and on the athletic field.”

Novara also said, “I would like to thank my parents, brother, and sister for always believing in me. I also would like to thank all of the Portland softball coaches who are, Coach Anderson, Coach Grys, Coach Fish, and Coach Novara. I also would like to thank my travel ball coach, Coach Clark. Lastly, I would like to thank my teammates for always pushing me to be my best and being great friends.”

When asked about her expectations for her senior season with the Raider softball team this fall, Novara said, “I have high expectations for myself this year, as well as the team. I fully believe this team can win a league title this year, and I know that we are all going to work extremely hard to be successful. I expect us to compete to our best ability in every game, and even though we only have two seniors, our leadership on and off the field is going to be valuable.

With over 25,000 students studying 200 associates and certificate programs, Lansing Community College is one of the largest community colleges in Michigan.  A member of the National Junior College Athletic Association, LCC offers four men’s and five women’s athletic programs.

In the 2017-2018 season, the Stars softball team went 41-11 and won their third consecutive NJCAA District I Championship.
