Portland’s Mariah Fedewa Signs to Play Soccer at Lake Erie College

Last week, Portland High School Senior Mariah Fedewa signed to continue her soccer career at Lake Erie College next Fall.

Fedewa expects to play midfield or forward for the Storm, and plans to study Physical Therapy.

When asked about her choice of schools, Fedewa said, “Lake Erie College is giving me the opportunity to continue my soccer career at a Division II level. They also have a wide variety of quality educational choices.”

When asked about her expectations for her senior soccer season at PHS this Spring, she said, “Since we have the same talented group coming back from last year, and a strong group of incoming freshmen, we should compete well in the league. As long as our team stays healthy, we will have countless goals as well as a solid starting 11. I anticipate that we will have the best season yet.”

Father Jason Fedewa, “We are extremely proud of Mariah and can't wait to follow her career at Lake Erie College.”

When asked about Mariah, PHS Head Soccer Coach Chris Roof said “She has been a starter on the Girls Varsity Soccer team the last three years. She is also one of our Captains. She has led the team in goals the last two years and has earned All-conference honors every season. It's awesome to have her on the team and she brings not only great play to the team but also positive leadership skills. I have known Mariah since she was in grade school and it's been a joy to watch her grow as a soccer player.”

Fedewa added, “I would like to thank my parents and coaches for helping me along the way. My dad and step-mom put in a lot of hard work to help me get to where I am at today. I want them to know they are appreciated and I recognize all the work they put into my soccer career. My dad is like my coach when I am not at practice. He constantly takes me to the field to get extra touches. I wouldn't be the soccer player I am today without his help.”

Located in Plainesville, Ohio, Lake Erie College is a member of the Great Midwest Athletic Conference, and is a member if NCAA Division II. Founded in 1856, the school has a current enrollment of 1,100.
