Shamrock Boys Basketball High on Experience for 2018-2019 Season

The Shamrocks look to be a strong contender in the CMAC this year. They finished 7-14 last year, but have quite a few experienced players returning.

Senior Guard Brandon Scheurer will return for his fourth season on the varsity squad. Scheurer was All State, Dream Team, Ionia County Player of the year, CMAC 1st team, and Academic All State. He recently signed to play college baseball at Saginaw Valley State University.

Senior Guard Nate Leahy was 2nd team All CMAC last year and returns for his third year on the Shamrock varsity squad.

Seniors Graham Wohlscheid, Nathan Lehnert and Tanner Lawson, as well as Junior Sam Mauren all return for their second years on varsity.

Junior Ryan Lay and Sophomore Connor Cross each saw some action for the varsity last year. They are joined by Juniors Seth Hoppes and John Schneider.

Coach Mark Scheurer kicks off his 13th year coaching the Shamrocks. He says, “The Shamrocks have many people returning with experience at the varsity level. Scheurer and Leahy are both All League returners, but they have to find consistent scoring from others and the ability to get defensive stops. They look to be competitive in each and every contest.”
