The Portland City Council reviewed a proposal, “Ordinance No. 198”, at its meeting on Monday night that will prohibit the sale or consumption of marijuana in any form as well as the sale or display of marijuana accessories, within the City limits. The Ordinance also prohibits marijuana use in all public places within the boundaries of the City.

The Ordinance, if adopted by the City Council at its next meeting on November 19th, explicitly states that it does not “supersede rights” of person to consume marijuana on private property with the owner’s permission. The Ordinance also clarifies that it is not an attempt to restrict use of marijuana for medical purposes.
