Fatal Early Morning Accident in Orange Twp

According to a release from the Ionia County Sheriff’s office, the victim of this morning’s fatal accident has been identified as Trinity Grace Nellis, 20 years old, of Corning New York.

Per the release, “On October 30th at 6:04 a.m., deputies from the Ionia County Sheriff’s Office responded to a two car personal injury accident at the intersection of David Hwy and Keefer Hwy in Orange Twp.”

“Preliminary investigation revealed that a 2008 Honda Civic was being driven by a 20 year old female from New York. The female was traveling north bound on Keefer Hwy when she disregarded the stop sign at David Hwy. Traveling west bound on David Hwy was a Dodge Ram 2500 pickup being driven by Kevin Coffman, a 28 year old male from St. Johns MI. The dodge pickup struck the Honda Civic on the passenger side of the vehicle. The 20 year old female was pronounced deceased on scene. Coffman was transported to Sparrow Ionia Hospital for his injuries.”

“Seatbelts were being utilized at the time of the crash. Alcohol and drugs are not believed to be a factor in the crash. Assisting the Ionia County Sheriff’s Office on scene was Berlin/Orange Fire Department, Ionia County Central Dispatch, Portland Ambulance, Lehman’s Funeral Home, and Reed and Hoppes Towing.”
