On Sunday, September 30th, Bob Wiborn and Mike Kolp became Iron Men.
Iron Man is race consisting of a 2.4-mile swim, 116-mile bike ride and a 26.2-mile run. Participants have 14 hours and 40 minutes to complete the 140 miles. The pair completed this race in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
Heather Wiborn said, “This takes dedication determination and mental strength. These men have trained for six months. Hours of bike rides and running. Sacrifices and watching your nutrition very closely. They are now part of the 1% of America that are Iron Men.
Unfortunately, the swim was canceled because of E. coli and water levels being three feet higher than normal. Because this bike course is 6 miles longer than the normal Iron Man bike course they still completed the miles of an Iron Man and are Iron Man.
Bob Wiborn finished in 11 hours 56 minutes and 6 seconds.
Michael Kolp completed finished in 13 hours 41 minutes and 46 seconds.
