Tai Chi for Arthritis

Designed for seniors, this 12-week class is a fun, relaxing way to improve balance and flexibility and will help relieve arthritis pain. Taught by Rachel Yenchar, a certified Tai Chi instructor from the Ionia County Commission on Aging, the free class meets Tuesdays from 11:00 to 11:45. Wear loose, comfortable clothing and closed-toe, flat-soled shoes. Exercises may be done while seated or standing, and caregivers are welcome to Participate. Questions? (616) 527- 5365.

Teen Cuisine

Tired of eating unhealthy fast-food snacks after school? This free class, taught by Tammy Fletcher, nutritionist with MSU Extension, Ionia County, is for teens in grades 6 to 12 who want to cook healthy foods while learning about nutrition, food safety, portion size and food labels. The 6-week class meets from 3:00 to 4:00 pm on Thursdays. Questions? (616) 527-5357.

Money Management for Adults

Retired or planning to retire? Debt getting in your way? Need help with investments, estate planning or deciding who gets Grandma’s pie plate? Taught by Brenda Long, a financial expert with MSU Extension, Ionia County. The free class meets for 6 weeks on Wednesdays from 5:00 to 6:00 pm. Questions? (616) 527-5357.

Holy Yoga

Experience the presence of the Lord at this beginner/intermediate class designed to welcome both new and more experienced practitioners. Bring your mat and any other props you want and enter into experiential worship, exercise, and scripture meditation in a relaxed environment. Taught by certified instructor Amanda DeKatch. Our Beloved Pets: Losing a Pet

When a pet dies or nears the end of its natural life, our sadness and mourning can be profound. Mental health professionals know that pet bereavement is real and valid. This 3-session class, which meets Thursday October 11, 18 and 25 from 6:00 to 7:00 pm, is taught by Laura Huggler, Ph.D. a psychotherapist and life-long pet owner. The free class is designed for those 16 and older who own companion pets or large animals/ livestock. Questions? (989) 992-4805.
