Portland Boys Soccer Beats Ionia to Stay Unbeaten
Portland Boys Varsity Soccer opened CAAC White league play Thursday at Ionia High School. Both teams entered the game undefeated on the season and it was anticipated to be a very intense game. From the very beginning the game was fast and furious. Both sides were looking to score the first goal. About 15 minutes into the game the Raiders were able to capitalize and score the first goal. Not long after they were able to make it a 2-0 lead with another goal. Ionia was able to keep the pressure on the Raiders and were able to score before the end of the half. Portland was able to continue to extend their lead in the second half to 4-1. With pressure mounting still Ionia was able to put in another goal but it wasn't enough and the final score was 4-2. Tate Dziewiatkowski and Florian Klindt both had two goals for the Raiders. Varsity Soccer is now 10-0 on the season and will continue league play on Tuesday Sept 18 away against Eaton Rapids.
