When the Raider varsity football team takes on the Orioles of Charlotte on September 14th at 7:00 PM at Charlotte, the two teams will begin a new annual match-up known as the “Victory for Veterans Benefit Football Game.” Anyone possessing a military ID will be admitted to the game at no cost, and each player will wear a special jersey honoring a veteran or active duty soldier.

Portland players are currently looking for sponsors for their commemorative camo jerseys. According to PHS Head Coach John Novara, the jerseys “will be presented to the veteran and/or family at the conclusion of the game.”

Sponsorship of a jersey is $100 which will cover the cost of the jersey and includes a donation to the Michigan Freedom Center. The jersey's will include the name of the veteran sponsored and a short write up will be read at the conclusion of the game.

There is a hard deadline of September 7th for sponsorships. Inquires can be directed to Amy Guilford at ajguilford@gmail.com.
