Shamrocks Dominate North Adams Jerome

The Shamrocks started out the 2018 strong, with a 36-0 victory over the North Adams Jerome Rams on Friday, August 24th.

Ned Smith started out the night with an 11-yard rushing touchdown, followed by a successful point after kick to make the score 7-0 in the 1st quarter. On the next series, after a quick 3 plays and out, John Schneider caught the punt deep and the Shamrocks sets up a beautiful punt return that Schneider took 78 yards for another score. Jeff Davlin against made the extra point to make the score 14-0 in the 1st quarter.

In the 2nd quarter, the Shamrocks put together a long drive which culminated in a 2-yard rushing touchdown by Ned Smith again, the time the extra point was blocked, making the score 20-0 at halftime.

The Rams started out the 3rd quarter by moving the ball down into Shamrock territory, before Alex Kissane made and interception and returned it into Ram territory. Connor Cross then made a nice 23-yard touchdown pass to Zach Spitzley, followed by a 2-point conversion pass again to Spitzley, making the score 28-0. The Shamrocks struck again in the 3rd quarter, when Sophomore backup Quarterback Connor Cross, threw a floater to Senior starting Quarterback Tanner Lawson, who proceeded to scamper 30 yards for a 61-yard touchdown pass. Cross followed up the score by throwing the extra point to Sophomore Devin Fox-Elster, who made an unbelievable diving catch to make the score 36-0.

Offensive leaders for the Shamrocks were Tanner Lawson who went 3 for 7 with 45 yards passing, 6 rushes for 28 yards, and 1 touchdown reception for 61 yards. Ned Smith, who rushed 11 times for 49 yards and 2 touchdowns. Connor Cross who went 2 for 2 for 84 yards, 2 touchdowns, and 2 extra points. Zach Spitzley, 2 receptions for 57 yards, 1 touchdown, and 1 extra point, and John Schneider who had a 78-yard punt receiving touchdown and carried the 7 times for 22 yards and received it 2 times for 11 yards.

The Shamrock defense specializes in team tackling, and there were a ton of assists to go around. Defensively, the leaders were Ned Smith with 7 tackles, 10 assists, 1 sack, and 1 TFL (Tackle for Loss). Bret Weller had 3 tackles and 6 assists, Alex and Riley Kissane both racked up 2 tackles, 8 assists and 1 interception, John Schneider had 4 tackles and 1 assist, Zach Spitzley had 1 tackle, 4 assists, 1 sack, and 1 TFL.

The Shamrocks visit Burr Oak on Thursday, August 30th at 7 pm.
