Anna Belle Fryover Colon, formerly of Portland, passed away, Thursday, May 3, 2018 at the age of 57. She was born July 23, 1960 in Lansing, Michigan, the daughter of Samuel and Kathleen Fryover. Anna attended Portland Schools, graduating from Portland High in 1978.
She resided in the Portland area for much of her life. Her love of children made Anna the favorite babysitter for many families. Anna looked out for all elderly people she knew, doing what she could to make their life a little better. She met Milton Colon and they married in 1998. Milton and Anna at one point moved to Puerto Rico, ten years later they decided to return.
She loved her family and friends more than anything. Her life was devoted to adoring her nephews and their families as well. Anna was an avid reader, loved to crochet, and stayed connected by telephone with all her friends whenever she could.
Anna Belle had the voice of an angel. Wherever she went people would often ask her to sing. She would sing with friends whenever there was an opportunity. Many friends and family had Anna sing at their weddings because her voice was so sweet.
Preceding Anna in death are her parents, Samuel and Kathleen Fryover and sister, Karen Hufnagel. Surviving is her husband, Milton Colon; brother, Thomas (Judy) Fryover; sister, LuAnne (Daniel) Champion; brother-in-law, Leon Hufnagel; her most treasured nephews, Herman (Sharon) Hufnagel, Samuel (Dawn) Hufnagel, Joseph (Sherri) Hufnagel, Thomas (Verkita) Hufnagel, and Michael (Andrea) Champion.
There will be a celebration of Anna’s life with Rev. Dr. Marilyn V. Danielson at 1:00 p.m., Sunday, July 22, 2018 at the VFW Post 4090, 1324 E. Bridge St., Portland. Private interment services for immediate family only will follow at 4:30 p.m. at East Sebewa Cemetery, Sunfield, Michigan.
