Raider Softball Takes First in Manistee
The softball team traveled north this past weekend and won the Manistee Chippewas 350 Club Softball Invitational Tournament. Portland defeated Manistee by the score of 5 – 2 in the first game of the day. Adrianna Novara picked up the win with Abby Grys pitching in relief. Jada Walton was the leading hitter in the game going two for two with a double and a triple and one RBI. Natalie Linebaugh, Sophia Novara and Brooke Seal each had a double.
In what proved to be the championship game, Portland defeated Mason County Central by the score of 11 – 0 in 6 innings. Portland’s offense exploded for 15 hits in the game featuring 2 dingers by Abby Grys and one by Jada Walton. Grys, Walton and Adrianna Novara each had three hits in the game and Allison Summers went 2 for 4. Adrianna Novara picked up her 16th win of the season in the 2 hit shut out performance.
The Raiders are now 19 and 7 for the season.
