Shamrock Boys Fall to Lansing Christian
The Shamrocks ended their season on Wednesday night at Webberville at the hands of the Pilgrims from Lansing Christian, 57-48.
Score by quarter:
Saint Patrick 9 7 11 21 48
Lansing Christian 12 11 13 21 57
The Pilgrims were able to jump out to a 6 to 8-point lead in the second quarter and were able to withstand runs by the Shamrocks right up until the last seconds where they were able to secure the game with four late free throws.
The Shamrocks pulled to within six with about a minute and a half remaining and could get no closer.
Coach Mark Scheurer said, “I am very pleased with our battle all year long and thought we improved throughout the course of the year. We are losing three seniors so there are a lot of Juniors, Sophomores and a Freshman who will be battling for time next year and received valuable experience at the varsity level this year. I told the boys that the work starts tomorrow for next year if you want to change our record. Players are made in the summer where they need to work on the fundamentals and their strength.”
Shamrocks were led by Brandon Scheurer who had 26 points and five rebounds and Nate Leahy who had 15 points and three assists. Will Simon chipped in nine assists and five rebounds.
Shamrocks finish 7-14 on the year.
Lansing Christian (13-7) moves on to play Webberville on Friday in the District Championship.
