Obituary for Herbert W. Hinds

Herbert William Hinds Sr., age 90 of Portland, passed away January 6, 2018. Herb was born on May 23, 1927 in Ionia, MI the son of Leo and Gladys (Merrill) Hinds. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and remains a lifelong member of the Veterans of Foreign War Post # 4090. He retired from Auto Air Industries of Lansing after 30 years of service and continued to reside in Portland. He lived a full and enjoyable life. Herb was preceded in death by his daughter Kay Densmore (Hinds); sons, Herbert Hinds, Jr. and Randy Hinds; brothers, Bill Hinds, Maxwell Hinds, and George Hinds. He is survived by daughters, Linda Chartrand (Hinds), Judy Smith (Hinds), and Sherry Agostini (Hinds); son, Bill Hinds (Lisa); sisters, Adele Hansen (Hinds) and Rosetta Thomas (Hinds). Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at Lehman Funeral Home, 210 E. Bridge St. Portland, MI 48875. Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Military Honors will be at Danby Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the VFW Post #4090, 1324 E. Bridge St., Portland, MI 48875 in memory of Herb.
