Portland Area Churches Celebrate Christmas

One of my most vivid childhood memories of Christmas is of my family attending a Christmas Eve church service with my grandparents. Just getting to stay up late was a treat, but add to that the reading of the familiar yet wondrous Christmas story, and singing carols by candlelight and the ordinary transformed into the magical. We would then go back to my grandparents’ house and my sister and I would fall asleep camped out in sleeping bags under the Christmas tree awaiting the arrival of Santa.
