Obituary for Tamra "Tami" Dawn Summers

April 8, 1950 - October 11, 2017 (age 67)

Tamra Dawn Summers (Greenhoe), age 67 of Sunfield, passed away peacefully at the Hospice House of Lansing on October 11, 2017. Tami, as commonly known, was born to Bernard and Marilyn Greenhoe (Sherman) on April 8, 1950. Tami was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents. Tami is survived by her loving husband of 48 years Joe, son Clayton, daughter-in-law Gwenda, grandchildren Griffin, Allison and Colton Summers all of Portland, as well as her sister Debra (Scott) Morgan of Dimondale, brother Greg (Kathy) Greenhoe of Portland and brother Kurt (Sue) Greenhoe of Quincy. Tami was also loved by many nieces and nephews as well as close friends she had kept throughout the years. Tami fought a courageous battle over the last year with cancer and continued to love and care for her family during her most difficult times. Tami loved her family and friends with all of her heart and most enjoyed watching her grandchildren play in their sporting events. Tami loved to be outdoors in her garden, going for coffee with the girls and going for rides with Joe to nowhere special. She will always be remembered for her ability to make anyone feel comfortable and her willingness to help others before ever thinking of herself. Although Tami will be greatly missed by many, the family takes comfort in knowing that she is no longer battling and can rest easy in a far better place. A memorial service honoring Tami's life followed by a lunch all to be held at the Portland VFW on Monday, October 16, at 11:00 am. In Lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the family for a memorial to be determined.
