The Portland Civic Players are at it again, bringing wonderful family entertainment to the community with their fall musical. This year, just in time for the holidays, they will be presenting “It’s a Wonderful Life, the Musical”. Many have grown up with this Christmas classic. Based on the beloved 1946 film, this musical faithfully follows George Bailey's life from his childhood dreams to his midlife disappointments and beyond, as we all take a journey to discover whether his life has mattered at all.
The Portland Civic Players production, directed by Sherry Miller and Tom Little, features a large cast with George Hilton as George Bailey, Lydia Wilson as Mary, and Joe Christian as Clarence the angel. With book and lyrics by Keith Ferguson and music by Bruce Greer, this show is from the screenplay by Francis Goodrich, Albert Hackett, Frank Capra and Joe Swirling. It is produced by special arrangement with Play Scripts, Inc. Show dates are December 1, 2, 8 and 9 at 7:30 and December 3 and 10 at 2:30. Tickets are $10 for students and $15 for adults.
