2007 and 2008 teams inducted into PHS Softball Hall of Fame
The Portland Softball Hall of Fame was established in 2019 to recognize players, coaches, teams and contributors who represent the foremost in achievement and lasting impact on Portland Softball.
On Saturday, the PHS teams from 2007 and 2008 were inducted as the Hall of Fame class of 2022. These two teams had outstanding regular season records and both advanced to the state semifinals. We are here today to celebrate their accomplishments and successes.
The 2007 Softball Team had an incredible season, posting a 42-4 record. As of today, this team still holds the school record for most wins and for best season-winning percentage at 91%.
This team experienced many remarkable successes.
They hold 9 team season records most notably most hits, doubles, triples and home runs. They also won 15 games by the mercy rule and recorded 21 shutouts.
In tournament play, they won the Jackson Northwest, the Lansing State Journal Softball Classic, the Pinconning and the Susan J Buche tournaments going 14-1 overall.
This team won the league championship title with an undefeated record of 12-0.
They were District Champions, Regional Champions and state Quarterfinal Champions. eventually losing in the state semifinals to Monroe St. Marys 2-0.
Five players received all state recognition for their efforts.

The 2008 Softball Team included many of the same players on the 2007 team which is why both teams are being inducted.
The 2008 team also had an outstanding season with an overall record of 36 and 9.
They finished second in the league with an 8-2 record.
This team was the runner-up in the Portland and Jackson Northwest Tournaments and won the Suzanne J Buche tournament.
They went on a 12 game winning streak at the end of the season, which is a very impressive feat given the teams they played.
In post-season play they became the District, Regional, and State Quarterfinal winners. They eventually fell to Wyoming Rogers 5-4 in the state semifinals. It cannot be understated how impressive back to back state semi final appearances are for these players and for our program.
Three players received all state recognition for their hard work.
